【Historic Site Osarizawa Mine】

A mine with a history of 1300 years and the remains of Japan's largest copper vein group mining site.

The northern part of Akita Prefecture has always been a major source of various metals in Japan. In particular, copper production accounted for more than 50% at one time, showing that Akita Prefecture was blessed with metal mineral resources and contributed greatly to domestic industry.

【Former Sekizen liquor store main building】

Sekizen Liquor Store was established in 1856 as a sake brewery, and was rebuilt in 1905 after being destroyed by the Great Hanawa Fire in 1905. It is a townhouse with a scale of 14 tatami mats in girder rows and 11 beams.

In 2006, it was registered as a national registered tangible cultural property (building).

 


【Michi-no-Eki Kazuno Matsuri Exhibition Hall】

One of Japan's three major festivals, the Hanawabayashi floats, are on display in one place. You can experience the atmosphere of the festival. It features gorgeous floats decorated with lacquer and gold powder, and lively music that resonates throughout the night, and the reverberation of the festival music reverberates through the streets of Kazuno. In March 2014, it was designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan as the Hanawa Festival Yatai Event. In November 2016, it was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage as one of the "Yama, Hoko, and Yatai Events."
